Bite Size #98: Simon Katich – Playing Cricket in the 90s vs Today

In this Bite Size from episode #43 Australian cricket Legend Simon Katich gives his thoughts on the changes in professional cricket in Australia in the last 30 years. Simon talks about his experiences coming through the system in the 90’s which required him to work and study in addition to training and playing professionally.

Simon notes that while it is good that players are able to make a living easier playing cricket these days it does leave them with a lack of real world experience and resilience from not having much experience outside the professional sport world as well as a lack of recovery and little to no off season leading to higher rates of burnout.
